Thank you for your reply. Reason behind not doing Rome is that we plan on doing it on a long weekend so that we can enjoy the experience properly, and not in a rush in the heat of high summer with all the crowds. May sound strange but don't want to ruin visiting a beautiful city.

I agree with you. Rome is a wonderful city but can be very hot and tiring in the summer months. Much better to visit in the spring or autumn when the crowds are less and the weather is a little cooler The Vatican is best avoid during the major christian festivals such as Easter .

We're doing the same as we've been to Rome, and therefore would rather enjoy some of the amenities the ship has on offer. Seems a complaint some people have is not having time to fully take advantage of facilites...so indeed...why waste them. Does anyone happen to know though as far as 'treatments' etc on Port days...good deals to be had?
