Find Your Cruise
Hi, We have just returned from the Ventura it was amazing the ship is fantasic the kids loved the kids club we have 2 boys 7 & 10.
As for loro park yes they do go there you can book online with p&o we did not take this trip as we wanted to go to auqa land instead which was on the same day. They are very over priced and we had most of our trips cancelled which we had pre- booked 4 months in before hand which was very upsetting for the childern. Have fun .
She will berth in the main port of the island, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Loro Parque is located about 25 miles away just outside of Peurto de la Cruz on the other (North) side of the island. As one of the main tourist attraction on the island, along with Mount Teide, it is well worth a visit, but you WILL pay through the nose if you book a ships tour as you do with them ALL. If there is two or more of you try booking a hire car either before you leave for your cruise, or onboard ship before arrival (costs a bit more, but can be more convenient). This would give you the freedom to explore at your leisure and will be cheaper! Make sure you have all the required documentation if you do this though. Happy cruising.
I hve jyst retuned from a canaries cruise on the venturea and was very dissapointed . it has to be the worst designed cruise liner thaat i have ever sailed on. i could go on for ever about its problems but will only say that the loro park is an excellnt day out but dont go on ventura
g wood skegness.
My daughter did this tour when on the Oriana last year, and thought it was great, We took the bus from the bus station [which is about half an hours walk away from the ships berth] to Puerto de la Cruz, while the bus fares are fairly cheap, you dont get a lot of time when you get there as the buses go to the airport and around the villages. The entrance fee to Loro park is also expensive so as P & 0 get group rates it was good value. also that you get off the ship and go straight to the park, so get more time to spend there. I do agree that ship tours are normally expensive, but this one you couldnt do cheaper.
Hi, the ship will berth at santa cruz. we did this trip in april with my grandaughters. We booked through P.O. and thought it well worth it as I had looked up the entry fee on the internet and that together with transport worked out about the same as what we paid for the trip. This way you get far more time at loro park as the coach picks you up right by the ship and you are there in about half an hour. Loro Park was great and you can pay extra for a 'behind the scenes' tour which we did and it was well worth the money (about £5 each if I remember)but you see where the gorillas sleep and the guide helps you find the quickest way around the park (lots of shortcuts). We had a wonderful time and then just boarded the coach outside and back to the ship! The penguin area is a sight to behold - in their own little antarctica complete with snow! The guy who owns the zoo is german and really into keeping all the animals in their natural environment. I suppose all in all we had about six hours there which you don't have if you do not take the tour! A must and a great day out! I thin overall it is well worth going on the P.O. tour as you get more time and it does not cost anymore in the long run. have a great time.
We went to lorro park when staying in a hotel in March and it was fantastic value for money and good rain or shine....sealions show, parrots show, whats show and dolphins show are all included in the price and we had a lovely pizza at lunch time and stayed in the park all day. Get there when it opens for a quieter start to the day and to get your bearings and the peguins were really something.
Hi - Not sure, but I think the ship docks at the Loro park end of the island - and Loro Park is a wonderful day out - if you like the animals - take a backstage tour and go behind the scenes with lunch included. We had a fabulous day there, excellent value for money.
We did this in May, from the Independence, & we stayed with our guide from the coach, who knew the times of all the shows-- dolphins, whales & sealions. They all followed one another within a few minutes, so we'd have missed some if we had to find our own way. They were all brilliant, & very good value for money, when we worked it out, as the transport, the shows, entrance fees,& a short coach tour afterwards, were all included.Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Cruise ships normally berth in the main harbour at St Cruz which is in the middle of the city and within easy walking distance of the shops. However Loro Parque is in Puerto de la Cruz which is on the other side of the island and joined by motorway. Expect a taxi will be expensive. Best go on an escorted trip. There is plenty to do in Loro Parque such as the park itself which is well laid out with flowers as well as the dolphin, sealions etc as well as the parrots which are mostly (sadly) in cages. But a trip to Mt Teidi is a must if you have not been before.
She docks in the north of the island.Get a taxi from the dock side it will work out cheaper than a trip booked on the ship.It is a goo half day trip.
