Find Your Cruise
Hi there, my husband, myself and two kids have just today returned from the Voyager on a med cruise. After having experienced this we would now, go for the organised cruises as some taxis are expensive and the ships dead lines are normally around 6 o clock so sometimes it means rushing about. Also organised trips, get you into places far quicker instead of joining HUGE long ques. As for tippig it is BEST to do the pre paid tipping before you go as there are a lot of people that you are expected to tip at the end of the hols. For example you have 3 different waiters to tip. Your cabin assistant(which they expect youto tip $3.50 per person per day that you are on theship, so you would be looking at around $105 dollars just for your room attendant alone. We would reccomend buying the soda packages or the wine packages at the port as they work out so much cheaper at the end of the hols. Each package, once paid for gives you unlimited soda or wine all for one payment. SO MUCH CHEAPER. November also will still be warm where you are going, just a little chilly in the evenings but with so much on the boat you won't be out on deck much except for the parties.
RCI website will have details of all the excursions [under before you board tab].
There are 3 options to pay for tips Envelopes for gratuities will be provided in your stateroom on the last night of the cruise. Gratuities may be paid in the following ways:
Pre paid by having them added to your reservation by your booking agent.
Added to your onboard SeaPass account.
Paid in cash at the end of the cruise
Tips are $10.75pp per day.
There is a soda card $6pd adults you can buy [+15% gratuity] There is a wine package (called wine and dine) you can also buy either before hand or when onboard. Suggest you go to this site to find out more:
Hi , we went on one of the royal caribbean ships in april, radiance of the seas. we paid our tips at end of holiday, they give you enevelopes if you ask for your tips not to be added to your on board card. we find it works out a lot cheaper. you pay what you like that way.
If you have already booked your cruise you find that they may have added your tips if so ask them to take these off and i suggest that you pay only the people who look after you ie cabin steward your waiter in the restaurant but then again you may only eat in the self service restaurant when you pay these tips in many cases it goes to staff you have never seen i have found we got very good service by tipping those who look after you give them some on arrival and the rest at the end of the cruis.
Hi we went on the voyager last year, its a fantastic ship and the staff are all really lovely and helpful. We did the pre-paid gratuities so at the end of the holiday we gave vouchers out which was fair but we alwasy tip the cabin guy loads extra because he was the one who made our holiday so oomforable, nothing ws to much trouble and you can see how hard they work. If you buy wine at dinner you can keep what you dont drink until the next night, as they keep your bottle for you, as far as i am aware there is no othere way to have wine with dinner, but is not hugely over priced. The soda card was great for my sone who did not drink alchohol, so everywhere he went he could have a drink. One BIG tip though is to buy yourself some cheap walki talkies as the ship is SO big and if your family go off in different directions you can always keep in touch. Hope this helps. Mrs A.
We sailed the med in october 2005.I think its best doing orgaised cruises. The guides explain all there is to know.Weather was fine in october and we never wore a cardigan even if qwe took them with us.Tell reception when you get on board ship you dont want tips added to your account. We tipped whom we wanted.Like the barwaiter each time we ordered drinks but left the waiters at table and cabin person until end of week and put it in enveloped for them.Whatever drinks you need just order where ever you are on ship and they all go on account at end of cruise. We have done four cruises now with the one we have just come off which was Norwegian Fjords.Hope these remarks help.
My husband and i and our 17 year old daughter just came back on saturday 19th aug from voyager and all i can say is that you could not have picked a better ship to cruise on, the food is excellent, the service is first class and even though the ship was full and that means 3300 people on board we were always made to feel special. drinks on board were very resonable and all priced in dollors, just bye your drinks as you need them. we have just done a different itenerary than yours so sorry i cant give you advice on your excursions but we found it really easy doing things on our own as sometimes the trips were expensive. you can pay your tips in advance or just pay them on the last night yourself, they leave you envelopes in you room for this.
Beleive it or not but myself my husband and our 17 year old daughter have just come back from voyager and all i can say is you have picked an excellent ship to go on. excursions through the company can work out a little expensive, doing them on you own can work out cheaper but i would suggest that if you are doing rome the ships tour would be best for you as the port is quite a bit away from the centre of rome, but the ship do provide a bus to the train station and there you can get the train to rome for 9 euro. if you are going to villafrance it is a lovely town and the train station is just at the top of the town where for just a few euro you can go to
monte carlo or canns. We found drinks on board to be the same as we pay at home if sometimes not cheaper and you can always check your bill on you t.v screen to see just what you are spending. All i can say about tipping is that with the service you get you should be more than happy to pay tips. you can pay in advance or put what you think into an envelope that they provide.
