If you're taking a cruise that begins or ends in New York, you could find yourself in Brooklyn instead of Manhattan. With the arrival of the Queen Mary 2 on April 15 2006, the city opened a major new cruise terminal in Brooklyn's gritty Red Hook neighborhood. The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is the new designated "home port" in New York for the QM2, its sister ship Queen Elizabeth 2, and several other ships from the Cunard and Princess cruise lines, both owned by Carnival. The Brooklyn terminal, in contrast, is in a relatively out-of-the-way, working-class neighborhood with small brick homes, warehouses and few tourist amenities in the immediate vicinity.

Thanks. Is the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal far from JFK airport in a tax.

We did the Queen Mary 'Splendours of the fall' last October and sailed from Brooklyn. However, getting a taxi from Manhattan was a nightmare because loads of cabs didn't want to do it because they were unlikely to get a return fare because there are no tourists in that area - just warehouses. We eventually found a driver who only agreed to take us because he lived in Brooklyn, we were so pleased we gave him a 30% tip - and he still wasn't happy - so allow yourself plenty of time and agree a price.

Cornforth, A Yellow Cab from JFK to the Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge was $45 flat rate. The Marriott is right by the cruise terminal. You could also try SuperShuttle for a shared van ride which will work out cheaper.
