Find Your Cruise
We have been on the QE2 many times ,and the frist time we went on al the tours .and iwe think there not worth going on as by the time you wait 2 be called and wait for all the buses 2 fill up you would be there and back 2 times over .SO if i were you just go and look yourself ,and you can get aTAXI 2 the realy good ones get a price off the taxi driver ,BUT dont go on there excursions .have a good tri.
Normally you can book on board and I have never seen them booked up on any cruise I have been on. They are generally quite expensive but convenient. There are always lots of taxis avaialable at most ports and if you make a group of four, it can be cheaper than the organised tours.
The organised excursions can be expensive but some ports of call you need to take them. I suggest in ports such as Lisbon you take the local bus tour around the city. This is good with comentary and costs about twelve euros.
I suggest you read your itinery well and see how far away from port the places you would like to visit are. It is more convenient to take the organised trips sometimes.
You can book on board but expect to stand in line for a while. It is best to book before you go if there is a definate trip you wish to go on.
Hope this helps
It depends where you are going. If you are going to places which are a long way from the port, e.g., Hanoi,Shanghai, safaris from Durban or Port Elizabeth, you need to be very sure that if you do it under your own steam, you can get back to the ship in time. In most cases, I always make my own way because trips are very expensive. If know I am going to have to take an organised excursion, I book before I leave because I know from extensive experience, some excursions are over-subscribed.
The one advantage of a ship organised tour on shore is that in the event of a late return to the ship it will still be there awaiting the return of a ship organised tour. They do not always wait for independent traveller.
We used to go on organised excursions but now we make our own way, much cheaper, more exciting. Last year we went to Rome, we saw the Pope, the organised excursions didn't.Even in the small ports and cities a walk around the town is great.
We went on a NCL cruise to the Baltics September2007 we can not speak to highly of the ships. Looking at the childrens club (for our son and 2 chilred age4) we were duly impressed What a fantastic cruise we had.and hope to go with NCL in the futur.
Hello there, We were on the QE2 in May. the excursions are expensive and boring. We done our own thing, either by taxi or a local tour bus where you can stop off along the way and jump on the next bus if there is something in particular you would like to see. Also you can make the trip as long as you like, if your bored or tired just return to the ship. The excursions dont giove you that freedom. Have a lovely holiday, we have done 2 cruises this year, but I am still envious. regards kath.
A:we traveled on qe2 last year, better to book before as many booked out, however on some excursions we booked our own taxi and was cheaper than some excursions, also do not hire the limo service a waste of mone.
I have travelled on the Q.E.2 and booked their excursions, they are quite expensive, and you could do them yourself for a lot less money, but you get the convenience of knowing if anything happens on the trip the ship will wait for you, but if you are on your own and late they leave you.
