We sailed on the Sun Princess in 2006, onboard was a pianist called Vincent (can't remember his surname) he played in one of the lounges. He was absolutely fabulous - we sat and listened to him every night and didn't bother with the shows they couldn't have been better. Would love to know where he is now.
Myself and my husband always enjoy the theatre group productions they work so hard and put their heart and soul into the show. We always cruise with Princess, the best entertainer we have seen was Brett Cave a pianist and singer fantastic, at the time we were on the Grand Princess.
I enjoy the theatre troupes and the show I enjoyed the most was Victoriana on the Queen Victoria followed by a Cirque de Sol like revue on P&O's Arcadia. As for guest artists I did enjoy Ray Allen and Lord Charles, Cannon and Ball, Jimmy Cricket, Aled Jones and too my surprise Paul Daniels.
ROCK THE BOAT a 1st class live band in the Ixtapa Lounge on Navigator of the Seas last year. They were on Independence of the Seas this year but as you couldn't smoke in the Pyramid (same as Ixtapa) we didn't see them so much and missed the dancing.
My fiancee and I went on the NCL Jade recently. THe cruise was predominantly good. HOWEVER, the comedian in the Spinnaker Lounge (I forget his name) was awful. We left after 15 minutes. We then ventured to the Stardust Theatre and caught the climax to the main show. What we saw was a man on a ladder juggling. Then he stopped. And that was the climax of the show. Thank god we only walked in at the end! At least we didn't have to sit through the whole thing. Fortunately, we ended up in the champagne bar and listened to a very nice piano recital. Hoorah!
I too recently have returned from an NCL cruise lately. Although only a two night cruise i found the entertainment fantastic, partiularly the main act in the theatre on the first night. Altough to be fair i would also agree with you that the piano performance in the champagne area was amazing! happy cruising!
We have just returned from NCL Jade and found the resident cast awaful. The show SHOUT was as bad as I have ever seen. What a mis-matched group of people. If it was not for Second City and improv group who appeared in the Spinnaker Lounge on several evenings the entertainment would have been a dead loss. Thank you Second City.
The band - High C's who were on the Baltic Cruise in July on oriana are an excellent band for dancing modern, sequence or Disco type. They did 2 brilliant jazz sessions in the Crows nest, whihc was full to overflowing. This was the 2nd time I've seen them on the Oriana, the 1st time about 5 years ago and although only 2 of the orginal remain they were still excellent. All very nice and friendly people too. Hope I come across them again.
Also the comedian Nicky Martyn is fantastic. Clean comedy that filled the theatre all the 4 times he perfomerd.
Sorry, the name of the band is Natural High - High C's was the title of their CD!
Thomson show teams and their west end style productions very entertaining and usually very high quality choreography.
