You are, of course, absolutely right. There is always a big hype when the new cruises are announced and so-called huge discounts offered and you are constantly being told that these prices will not be offered again after a certain period. In my experience they are and sometimes they are even lower at later dates. So fall for the hype and bear the consequences....but....if you really want to have that cruise or that cabin then the only certain way to make sure is to book early. Some cruises sell out and never get re-offered and again if you want to travel at peak times then you may have to book early. It's all a matter of marketing and if it's not selling then an incentive is offered but you cannot blame them for trying to get as many people "onboard" at an early stage, if you were running the company you would be doing exactly the same thing or failing your share-holders.....Nei.

If you book with RCI or Celebrity/Azamara and your cabin price goes down they will honour it. Lesson learnt.

Smith - Answered a Question by Swindells (29 Feb 08 11:22)

We've always booked early to get the cabin we want. Nothing special, just midships on E deck. Also we have to pre-book time off work and make other arrngements. When I've looked at the late offers, and checked what cabins are available, they've not been what we would have booked. Also, the opposite seems to happen with mini-cruises. We booked on the day after bookings opened for the Sept 2 nighter on P&O Ventura, had to take an upgrade to a balcony cabin at £250 each. Now they seem to have almost doubled in price. Same seems to happen with other mini- cruises.
