Just of Voyager of the Sea ,Royal caribbean We had two children with us and they had so much fun.lots to keep them entertained day and nigh.
RCI is probably the best cruiseline afloat for children's facilities - rock climbing, ice skating, flowrider surf machine. NCL new ships have huge interactive WII. American ships seem to cater more for families and have a more 'cheerful' atmosphere. But Christmas 09 will not be on sale till Spring 08.
We took our 2 children similar ages around South america on the QM2 last year and were both concerned because cunard dont make much reference to children on board but the facilties for them were fantastic, the only thing is that there are no inbetween cabins your either inside 4 berth with bunks or queens grill, if you can afford it this would be the better option and was worth every penn.
I would advise doing a specific family type cruise, some comapnies offer these, i.e. RCI. Although some companies offer kids clubs etc, we found it was other passengers who were off, fine while the kids were locked away below deck, but how dare they use the pool or help themselves to the buffet etc. Now admittedly some folk do let their sprogs run wild, but generaly most kids know how to behave therefor should be welcomed on deck. RCI are fab and have lots of on deck entertainment, on the newer RCI ships they have specified decks just for them.
Most staff love the kids (don't forget most have kids at home, and they are away from them) so they do fuss over them. We had teens and the night watch used to excort them back to the cabins for their safety after the nightclubs/cinemas ect finished. Food is usually no problem as there is so much to pick from. Hope you get what you want, happy sailing .
I took my grandchildren on P&Os Aurora and the Ocena and they had a fantastic time, I think for the younger child P&O is definately better as they really look after the youngsters,My grandchildren couldnt wait to get back onboard when we went ashore as they didnt want to miss any off the activities.they went on RCI with their other gran, but said it didnt compare with the activities on Ocean.
You may consider Carnival Cruise Line , we have been with them a couple of cruisesand had a fantastic time and the children were well looked after and seemed to have alot of fun.
I would agree strongly with Ross, we have been on many cruises but rci is by far the best for the kids!! My two boys are 13 and 9 and we are going on the liberty this month the boys cant wait.
You could try Princess cruises they do good child care services on board.
