Most cruise ships will welcome smokers and have areas that you can smoke in including bars all that they ask is that you smoke in said areas and no where else i myself am a nonsmoker and respect your viewpoint as it is you are breaking no laws by smoking but be prepared for for for some less tolerant narrow minded replies.
Fred Olsen has designated areas where smokers can indulge themselves IE on the Black Prince one side of the upper part of the Neptune show lounge is designated smoking. Also there are bar areas on the Braemar and on the Black Watch and one suposes on the Boudicca and Balmoral. I think the matter is dealt with sympathetically in the current brochure, they are very nice ships. Even some cabins are available for smokers. You are always asked if you require non smoking.
I'm also a smoker and am booked on QE2 which,I am led to beleive, has areas in bars that you can smoke. I hope so.
Yes we are a discriminated minority! Most cruises have areas inside ship in public bars where you can smoke. I can only speak for Thomson- they have one inside place where you can smoke- HIgh Spirirts night club on Spirit and Liberties on Celebration. I think other bigger ships have more areas inside for smokers and of course on the open decks. You will find that in this site 'smokers' are a touchy subject and no doubt this question will generate a few answers from the non smokers!!! As I see it we, the smokers, pay the same price as the non smokers, and until the cruise ships ban smoking altogether , which I doubt they could cope with the loss of revenue- they will always have areas for smokers so dont be put off by the non smokers on this site, read a few answers awhile back where there have been some informative posts re smoking on cruise.
The UK smoking resrictions do not apply to cruise ships. The following is the current P&O smoking policy
"Smoking will be permitted in cabins (including cabin balconies), on certain areas of the open decks and in designated smoking areas of one or two public rooms. Smoking will not be permitted in any other areas."
Yes, NCL and O.V but not all the bars, only designated ones.
We were on Thomson Destiny in September this year, and smoking is allowed in the cabin, in the Oklahoma Bar, (one side only) and on one side of the open decks. I am an ex-smoker, but my husband smokes, and he didn't have any problems finding somewhere to go.
