Find Your Cruise
If you are going on the Rex Rheni, take a book such as War and Peace in case a shear pin breaks and you have to spend 54 hours in Koblenz waiting for repairs.
It is essential to read the brochure carefully and to query anything you are unsure of with Viking. I am just back from Rhine/Moselle on Saga's Rex Rheni which has "pullman-beds". Bad joke. Steel pressings 2'3" wide containing a solid lump of 'something' pretending to be a mattress. A shelf above will damage you if you bend forward to spread the duvet, sit down without thinking, etc. These ships are NOT like the Nile cruisers which have full size beds and plenty of space. WRITE TO VIKING !!! May you sleep well. Still, its a great journey.
Very interested to read this because I was contemplating doing a cruise on this vessel. I was suspicious of the "Pulman beds". I will take it up with Saga who charter this boat for all Saga cruises. I am 76 and really can't cope with an uncomfortable bed. Cheers.
We went on a Viking cruise to the Ukraine in June, the food was excellent, hardly any entertainment compared to an ocean cruise. Check your cabin size, the latest ships seem O.K. but our cabin was so small for two it put a damper on the holiday. It was the smallest cabin we have had in many years of cruising! V. Stockdale.
