I have cut and pasted from Cunard's owbn site the question answered below. I too am booked for the QV 2009 full world cruise and yes agree it is difficult to pack all those formal dresses not to mention dinner suits, and lounge suits for the men. The Cunard line do have a dry cleaning service on board and they also have laundry facilities. Yes I know you cant wash and press formal dresses so what I intend to do is be selective on the amount of formal nights we attend and have our meals in the Buffet area at least that way you can cut down on the amount of dry cleaning. Also remember that not everyone will be on the full cruise and people will be leaving/joining at various stages throughout. Besides what does it matter if we were the same gown a few nights each time just dress your dress up with a different shawl and piecve of jewellery, anyway if they are all on the full world cruise we are all in the same boat (excuse the pun). Enjoy your cruise whenever you are sailing.
Do I have to dress for dinner every evening?
One of the great thrills of a Cunard cruise is the sheer glamour of the evenings. Generally, evening dress may be either formal, informal or casual when your ship is at sea, and informal or casual when your ship is in port. There will be a maximum of three formal nights in a week. Evening attire, effective from 6pm, will be specified in your ship’s Daily Programme, delivered to your stateroom each day. Dress codes are defined as follows:
Black tie or formal dark suit for men. Evening dress or other formal attire for women.
Jacket and tie for men. Cocktail dress or trouser suit for women. No jeans.
Jacket, no tie required for men (no jeans or shorts). Dress, skirt or trousers for ladies.
