You are really buying dollars with your credit card you would be better of with travellers cheques or dollars cas.
In connection with this question, if you take dollars cash, which I understand is the best way to pay, can you pay some money into your onboard account at the beginning of the cruise. Safer there then in your cabin safe?
Duncan somerset yes you can but i advise that you pay in only what you intend to spend as getting back any left over cash can be difficul.
Oh dear i don't think i made myself clear in answer to middleton, warminster..we don't intend taking any $ but only the credit card you have to now use one to pay for drinks and xtras on ship.and when we return home the credit card company will convert what we spend back into pounds...i was curious how this would be cost wise AFTER the currency conversio.
The credit card company all of them will charge you a minimum of 3% conversion charge hope this answers you questio.
Nationwide credit card give you full bank rate . no hidden extras.
