Find Your Cruise
Jim- it might be easier to just stay one night pre-cruise at one of the London Hotels used by RCCL and just get on the transfer shuttle with passengers going to Harwich for your Jewel sailing. They use the Kensington Forum, City Inn Westminster, Grosvenor House,Royal Garden Hotel- all centrally located and much easier to get to from Gatwick.
If you call 1-800- 521-8611 they should be able to help you book hotel and shuttle transfer.
Hello Jim, This is a very difficult operation…. Harwich ( pronounced Ha-rich ) . The cheapest method it to go by coach but it is very convoluted and means changing several times and finishing up by going by rail from Colchester. And will cost about £25. The cost of a taxi to do the 100 miles is £120 with email@example.com. Your best bet is to go by rail and this will cost you about £33 and take about 3 hours. Just Google “Harwich trains” and closer to your sailing date you should be able to get an on-line booking from Gatwick to Harwich …. hope that helps, Heathe.
This is a tough one. One would normally take the train as Gatwick Airport station is attached to the airport terminal. The train would take you to London Victoria, from whence you would take the underground to London Liverpool Street. You would then take a train to Harwich (notice the spelling!!) with usually a change of trains at Mannningtree. Go to Harwich International Port, NOT Harwich Town. Obviuosly this journey is tricky if you have lots of kit, and it will be expensive. I'll see if I can get you some more information.
Sorry, having checked more closely, you take the First Capital Connect train from Gatwick Airport to Farringdon, where there is cross platform interchange to the undergound to London Liverpool Street, where you can get the train to Harwich International. Time taken is just over 2.5 hours and the fare is about £32 (about $64). There may be coaches, which would be cheaper but much slower.
But both Farringdon station and the FCC service are less luggage-friendly than Victoria and the Gatwick Express.
You also need to check the FCC timetable to make sure that this will work for you. The train times are slightly different during the morning and evening peaks, because the trains can't run through London Bridge station (because that is then full to capacity with other trains).
