I seriously cannot believe that you are considering taking an 8wk old baby on a cruise. Illnesses such as norovirus and germs spread quickly on board a ship, and a small baby has no immune system against these. The medical staff may not have the full facilities to cope with this and if you are in the middle of the ocean when the baby gets sick then they cannot get you to a hospital. Please rethink.

Some cruise lines will not take babies under a year, check with a TA.

No! Check with the Cruise lines Terms & Conditions, a TA just might get it wrong.

I have seen young babies on the ships before but I do agree with the respondent below, although the medical departments on the ship are very capable a baby this young could well need specialist care and at times you are a very long way from land, at Christmas we had to turnaround and sail back for 5 hours to be close enough for a helicopter to reach us from San Juan, this made us 7 hours late docking in New York and hundreds missed their flights. Why not choose a landbased holiday this time and take your precious cargo when they are a little older.

I don't think question exists. RCI, NCL, Carnival, who own just about everything else, all state MINIMUM AGE 6 Months.
